The European Association of Fertilizer Manufacturers, Fertilizers Europe (FE), has published a press release in which it considers that the “Net-Zero” Industry Law, proposed by the European Commission, is a missed opportunity to attract investment, ensure the deployment of “Net-Zero” technologies and allowing the financing of the green transition for industries of strategic importance for Europe, such as the fertilizer and ammonia sectors. The problem is that “Net-Zero”, which sets the goal of cleantech manufacturing capacity reaching 40 percent of EU needs by 2030, only considers the manufacturing of specific technologies without taking into account deployment. and use of these technologies in key manufacturing sectors, such as the production of low-carbon ammonia.

FE recalls that the European fertilizer industry supports the ambitious objective of the European Green Deal of climate neutrality by 2050, and recalls that currently the main European fertilizer products have half the carbon footprint of the world average, having reduced 49 percent of its emissions since 2005.
